Teija Heikkilä

Teija Heikkilä, founder of PET|VET M&A, Sales & Advisory (formerly National Kennel Sales & Appraisals), has been a trailblazer in the pet care industry since 1990, the year she opened the very first dog daycare in the US. Immigrating from Finland, she has built a successful 34-year career fueled by her passion for this dynamic industry.
Teija has personally owned, operated, and sold several pet care facilities, equipping her with invaluable skills to understand the unique needs and goals of pet industry business owners when structuring a confidential sale. Having been actively involved on the consumer side of the industry by owning pet resorts until 2022, she has a deep understanding of what it takes for pet care facility owners to achieve success and, most importantly, how to sell well.

Since founding National Kennel Sales & Appraisals in 2007, Teija has been integral in assisting business owners in successfully selling their businesses. Both the market for selling businesses and the consumer side of the industry have evolved tremendously, and Teija has been at the forefront of these changes, particularly in the consolidation process from its inception to the current robust market with many players.
Teija is a highly accredited professional, holding the Certified M&A Professional (CM&AP) and Merger & Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) designations, as well as being a Licensed Real Estate Broker in over twenty states.
A native of Finland, Teija has lived in the US for over thirty years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her four dogs in the beautiful Colorado mountains, deep-sea diving in the Caribbean, and traveling.
