In 2006, Stacy Velez set out to redefine pet care in the greater Denver, CO area. With a clear vision and a deep passion for creating a joyful, clean, and secure environment for dogs, she founded Digstown in Stapleton. From the beginning, Stacy was driven to offer something more—an experience that prioritized the happiness, safety, and well-being of every dog that walked through the doors.
That vision paid off. By 2014, Digstown expanded and relocated to one of Denver’s most affluent neighborhoods. The new 8,500 SF facility features 68 custom suites spread across three thoughtfully themed wings. With a total capacity of 170 dogs, the environment was carefully designed to accommodate a wide range of breeds, temperaments, and energy levels.
Outside, nearly an acre of land was transformed into enriching play yards complete with pools, fountains, and engaging structures. Dogs are grouped intentionally to ensure a safe, social, and stimulating experience—no matter the weather.
“I wanted Digstown to be a place where dogs could feel safe, loved, and excited to come back,” Stacy shared. “It had to feel different from the moment people walked in—and it still does.”
Built to Last, Led with Purpose
As the business matured, Stacy worked diligently to create a self-sustaining operation. A trusted, long-standing team—led by an experienced Manager and supported by reliable supervisors—now handles daily operations with consistency and care. From pet care to client communication, the team ensures the high standards Stacy envisioned are met every day. Thanks to this structure, Stacy was able to take a step back from daily operations without compromising on the customer or pet experience.
Boarding and daycare remain the heart of Digstown’s success, with loyal pet parents returning year after year for the personal attention and dependable care they’ve come to expect.
The Right Time—and the Right Team—for Transition
As Stacy turned her focus to her latest venture, Dig’s Diner—a fresh pet food company—she made the decision to sell Digstown. Her goal wasn’t just to sell, but to find a successor who would respect what she built, support her team, and continue delivering the quality care her clients trusted.
She partnered with PET|VET, a team known for their industry expertise and structured, client-first approach. From the start, PET|VET’s bullish attitude about Stacy’s business helped drive the process forward with confidence. Even when faced with challenges—including a complex lease assignment and a dip in revenues—they never lost momentum. Their strategic navigation kept the deal moving forward in a structured fashion, with the client’s best interest at the center of every decision.
Thanks to PET|VET’s expert guidance and advocacy, Stacy secured the highest possible valuation for Digstown. More importantly, she found buyers who aligned with her values and were committed to honoring the business’s legacy.
“Working with PET|VET gave me confidence from day one,” Stacy said. “They understood what I’d built and helped me find the right fit—not just for the business, but for the people and pets behind it.”
A Confident Future for Digstown
With the sale complete, Stacy is now fully focused on expanding her dog food and supplement business. She leaves Digstown proud of everything she built—and confident in the future ahead. With her trusted team still in place and the same culture of care intact, Digstown is poised to thrive under new ownership.
Through every step of the transition, PET|VET proved what it means to be a true partner—steadfast in their belief in the business and always looking out for their client’s best interest.
